Pool Rules and Regulations

Anyone in violation of these rules may be asked to leave the Pool area. Continued violation of these rules is cause for suspension of Pool privileges or other action.
[updated 14 May 2009]
  • The pool will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day, weather permitting. If hours are changed, they will be posted at the swimming pool.

The following rules and regulations have been established for thebenefit of all residents and to assure safe operation of the pool facilities:
  1. Only residents and their properly identified guests can use the Pool. Residents are defined as year-round occupants of properties in Ledgewood and their legal dependents. Visiting friends, people spending the summer, relatives (including children of residents who no longer are dependents or grandchildren), former Ledgewood residents, etc. do NOT meet the definition of resident/dependent
and will be charged on the guest pass.
  2. Residents need a Ledgewood Pool picture ID for Pool admittance. Association fees must be current to receive a Pool pass.
  3. Guest passes will remain at the Pool and be maintained by the Pool staff. When residents bring guests to the Pool, the staff will check off the pass. Each family will receive thirty (30) free guest passes. 30 additional guest passes can be purchased for $50.
  4. If you disagree with a request for payment for a guest, please cooperate anyway. Guards will notify the Pool Manager about the situation. If it is subsequently determined that you should not have been charged for a particular guest, a full- credit adjustment will be made.
  5. No person may use the Pool unless a guard is present and on duty in the Pool area.
  6. If an accident occurs at the Pool, our insurance carrier requires an incident report be completed. Thanks for your cooperation and assistance in completing the incident report.
  7. There will be a rest period of 50 minutes past each hour. This is an adult-only swim period (16 years or older) and includes the Junior Pool.
  8. No rafts, floats or similar flotation devices will be permitted in the Pool (Exception; “rubber ducky” day is every Sunday 2-4 PM). Small, plastic type devices used by young children are allowed in the Junior pool.
  9. Running, pushing, dunking, and splashing are dangerous and will not be permitted in the Pool or on the deck.
  10. Children must be able to swim one width of the Pool and tread water for 60 seconds to be accompanied by an adult in the main Pool.
  11. No glass whatsoever is allowed in the Pool area. This includes baby bottles.
  12. Anyone defecating in the Pool will be evicted from the premises immediately and will lose all Pool privileges. Children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers in the Pool and in the Junior Pool.
  13. Proper swimming attire is required to use the Pool.
  14. Children under 16 must have an adult in the water with them (not just on the Pool deck) when swimming in the adult (i.e., far East) end of the Pool.
  15. Continuous East-West lap swimming is permitted in the two swimming lanes. Please be courteous and be prepared to share your lane with other swimmers. Any other activity (sitting, sun-bathing, hanging on the lane lines, diving into the lanes) is not permitted.
  16. No swimming in the diving area, except when going off the board, unless board is not in use and permission is obtained from the lifeguard in charge.
  17. Only one person at a time is allowed on the diving board or the ladder. The next person must wait until the previous diver had reached the side of the pool or cleared the divider lines.
  18. Forward dives only, no back dives allowed.
  19. Only one bounce is permitted on the diving board.
  20. No diving is permitted in the shallow areas of the Pool.
  21. Divers (or jumpers) may not wear flotation devices. All divers must jump or dive straight off the end of the diving board, not to the side.
  22. Object may not be thrown in or around the Pool unless permission is obtained from the lifeguard in charge. This includes Frisbees, balls, beach toys, etc.
  23. All children using the Junior Pool who are unable to swim, must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The adult is totally responsible for the safety of children using the Junior Pool.
  24. Smoking is not permissible within the confines of the clubhouse or fenced-in areas surrounding the Pools. Smoking is permissible outside of clubhouse front entrance; please utilize the cigarette butt containers.
  25. Pool furniture may not be reserved for people not in the Pool area. If you leave for any reason, take your personal items with you.
  26. Children under 16 must yield the use of the Pool furniture to adults.
  27. Portable radios/cassette players are permitted in the Pool area, but must be played at low to moderate volume levels. If the volume is judged disturbing to lifeguards and other residents, the privilege may be suspended for that day at the discretion of the lifeguard in charge.
  28. Kickboards are available at the front desk. Kickboards must be used in the lanes only, and should be returned to the front desk upon finishing.
  29. Chewing gum and alcohol are not allowed at the Pool.
  30. The lifeguards have the authority to close the Pool whenever unsafe or threatening conditions or weather hazards exist.
  31. No running at any time anywhere in the Pool area. No playing on or around the ladders.
  32. No flips off any walls.
  33. Please clean up after yourself – litter, cans, etc.
  34. If there are any questions or objections to any decisions made by the guards, please contact the Pool Manager (Liz Hastings: 440/241-9203) for resolution. If the Pool Manager is not available, or the Manager’s decision is not to your liking, contact the Pool Trustee (Mary Hastings: 440-238-3005). Please comply with the lifeguards’ or the Manager’s decision in the meantime.
  35. Pool hours are generally Noon to 8:00 PM daily. These may be adjusted for home swim meets or other special events.
