Subject: Ledgewood Swim Team Welcome & Practice Information
Welcome to the 2009 Ledgewood Swim Team!
Here are just a few items to get us started:
Communication
E-mail will be our primary source of communication throughout the season, so please check your e-mail regularly throughout the season to ensure that you have all necessary information. In addition to e-mail, we have a Ledgewood Swim Team Mailbox, which is kept near the front desk at the Ledgewood Clubhouse. Each family will have a file folder in the mailbox. Once again, please check it regularly for items such as order forms, contact sheets, newsletters, schedules, etc. The mailbox will be available when practices begin. A hard copy of the contact list will be distributed through the mailbox to all families during the first week of June. Finally, there is a Ledgewood Swim Team Bulletin Board located on the exterior wall on the clubhouse, near the pool. Please post any conflicts that you have for practices and meets on this board. The coaches will also use this board to post timely information and recognition.

Practices for the Season
Optional after school practice will begin on Tuesday, May 26th, from 4:30 - 5:30 pm at the Ledgewood pool. These practices will continue to run Monday through Friday until Strongsville school is out of session on June 10th. At that time, regular practice will take place as follows:
Beginning on Thursday, June 11th:
Group 1 (ages 11 and older): 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Group 2 (ages 10 and younger): 10:30 am - 11:30 am
**Please note that swimmers may be placed in a different group based on ability.
Practice Expectations
Swimmers should come prepared to swim with a towel, goggles, and a swim cap. New Ledgepark Pirate swim caps have been ordered and should be available to distribute during one of our first practices. Swimmers are expected to arrive on time, every day. In the event of rainy or cold weather, we will either hold practice inside and perform dry land exercises, or the coaches will cancel practice and notify you ahead of time.
Parent Work Schedules
Thanks to many of you have signed up for assignments during the season. I will be completing the schedules over the next week and will have them available once practices begin. If I can complete sooner, I will send out via e-mail. Otherwise, please check your mailbox.
Each swim meet requires a minimum of 15 - 20 parents to run smoothly. If you are unable to fulfill your assignment at any time during the year, you must find a replacement. If you do not, we must rely on parents who are not scheduled to work. I have worked very hard to ensure that all parents have an occasional "night off" to enjoy watching the meet. If you are scheduled to do a job that you are unfamiliar with, we will be sure to place you with someone who can assist and train you.
Miscellaneous Dates
* Picture Day has been tentatively set for Friday, June 26, 2009.
* End of Year Banquet is set for Sunday, July 19th (exact time tba).
****Typically, the banquet is the evening of our Champs event, which takes place this year on Saturday, July 18th. Due to a prior scheduled event in the clubhouse, the banquet had to be moved. Volunteers are still needed to help with set-up, food, and decorations for the banquet.
* Computer Scoring Training - For parents who will be scoring, a training session is scheduled at the Strongsville Library for the evening of May 28th.
